Our Campus in the heart of Rome

Overview

Rome City Institute’s urban campus is ideally located just a short walk from the iconic Piazza del Popolo, providing an inspiring and dynamic environment for our student-athletes. Our campus, known as Villa Caproni, spans an impressive 3,500 square meters and is designed to foster both academic and athletic excellence.

Villa Caproni was originally built by Count Gianni Caproni di Taliedo (1886-1957), a pioneering figure in Italy’s aviation history. As the country’s earliest designer and producer of airplanes, Caproni laid the foundation for Italy’s aviation industry. The site where Rome City Institute stands today is where Caproni designed and developed his early airplanes, including his first model in 1908. His legacy is woven into the fabric of our campus, merging history with modern education.

A significant piece of this history is showcased at the main entrance of the campus, where a propeller from a 1920’s twin-engine Ca.5 biplane is proudly displayed on loan from the Caproni family. This rare artifact serves as a symbol of Count Caproni’s groundbreaking contributions to aviation.

At Rome City Institute, our campus extends beyond the walls of Villa Caproni—the city of Rome itself becomes our campus. Surrounded by ancient monuments, timeless art, and vibrant culture, our students are immersed in a living, breathing classroom where learning happens both inside and outside the campus grounds.

Our campus, our city

From its origins as the heart of the Roman Empire to its current status as a vibrant cultural and social hub, Rome’s history is rich and multifaceted. Traces of its past can be found everywhere you look, making every street and corner tell a part of its story. What makes Rome truly captivating is how seamlessly the ancient blends with the contemporary; it’s difficult to pinpoint where one era fades and the other begins. Surrounded by historical monuments, timeless art, and global institutions, the Eternal City stands as a significant center for political, cultural, and social affairs in Europe, while also being one of the most visually stunning cities worldwide.

At Rome City Institute, our campus extends beyond the walls of our building—the city itself becomes our campus. With its historic landmarks, museums, and cultural events just steps away, students are immersed in the living history and vibrant life of Rome every day. Whether in the classroom or walking through the city’s iconic streets, learning and discovery never stop.

Amid this historical and dynamic backdrop is a lively community of approximately 2.8 million people, nearly 10% of whom hail from international origins. The diverse population enriches the city with a mix of cultures and languages, making it a place where anyone can find their own space to belong. Despite being a large, bustling city, Rome retains a welcoming and familiar feel. Its close-knit neighborhoods weave together to form the vibrant tapestry of the city, offering the unique experience of living in a major metropolis while still enjoying the comfort and warmth of a tight-knit community, both on campus and in daily life.
