Swimming in Italy is tradition and excellence, and never as in recent years can be said at the top level worldwide alongside the USA and China.
The Italian National swimming team won its first medal at 1972 Summer Olympics. In Tokyo 2021, Italian swimmers won six medals, doubling their total from 2016, plus another in open water. Prior to 2021, Italy’s men had won just one Olympic relay medal ever, but in Tokyo, two of their medals came from men’s relays. Our student-athletes will have the opportunity to train at a high level in the beautiful Rome, under the guidance of qualified and forward-thinking coaches who have been crucial in the Italian delegation’s recent successes.
Competition is what makes athletes strive for success. Our swimmers will be able to compete in official events held by the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN) at both National and International levels, allowing them to record their times globally. Athletes compete in a 9-months season throughout the whole academic year.
Our goal is to offer student-athletes the chance to join a professional athletic and academic environment where they can grow as swimmers and as individuals. Each athlete is guided by our coaches from any aspect: physical, technical, and mental.
Swimming is an individual sport, and every swimmer has a different physical structure and different needs. That’s why each athlete receives individualized training for their races, both long and sprint distances, and can rely on a qualified staff to support them all year long. A strength and conditioning program is also provided to complement the water training.
For over 100 years, the Nuova Petriana Club has the same goal: to encourage the growth of the athletes through the practice of sport in a healthy and safe environment. Overlooking the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica, the Nuova Petriana athletic center is located in the heart of Rome, just above Vatican City.
The center offers a 25-meter pool, but our swimmers will also be able to train in long course by joining local clubs.
